The solution for Canada enjoying global free trade quickly with self-protection

Frank    July 16 2014   in Waterloo On. Ca.

TPP Talks Ottawa July 2014 failed.

The Supply Management, a protection for the industry of the Dairy and Poultry of Canada, has fortunately dodged a dead bullet with lucky enough to get a chance for survival some time. And also, Canada's Trade Minister Ed Fast tells a good news that TPP talks may be endless, so that Supply Management  may survive longer time, and thus those decent Canadians of the farmers who have been hard working in the farms, the workers who have been hard working in the food processing under minus temperature enviroment, and more agro-industrial related working-people, may keep their jobs to make livelihood for their families' survival.

This is a man-made irrational world, those decent people who are hard working for material wealth creation, but, are not able to live a decent life, even unable to enjoy the modern civilization what they have hard created. And the side effect of the global free trade is promoting such irrational.

Canadians must seriously consider and rationally respond to this issue.

Now, I will try to discuss, for canada, how to enjoy the benefits of the free trade by well avoiding its disadvantages to get what we need with lesser loss.

July 13, 2014, Canada's Trade Minister Ed Fast says he will not put a timeline on when the Trans-Pacific Partnership talks will conclude. --- http://www.nst.com.my/node/12661.

The failed TPP Talks Ottawa Jul. 2014 and the effect delay of the Canada-EU free trade deal Oct. 2013has strongly proven that the free trade talks by big grouping is impossible, due to that more country involved will be more difficult to reach a deal.

Because of the level of the economic development are different between the countries, so that the concerns in free trade talks are different. Such as, in the developing countries, even if the state-owned enterprises, it is difficult to compete with private enterprises in the developed countries. If we blindly by the name of fairness stress that the government must abandon the support, their state-owned enterprises are bound to be destroyed by the private enterprises from developed countries. It will cause massive unemployment.
And for agricultural issues, even if in developed countries, such as, Japan, due to the large population with less land, per farmer-run land area is small, high production costs make its agro-products difficult to compete with that of the United States, Australia, etc. Moreover, there are around 2.5 Million employments in Japan's agricultural industry, once lost tariff protection, it will cause massive unemployment.

Whether it is from the consideration of the government stability or from the people livelihood, all the countries are bound to do all they could to protect their related industries, thus, it is bound to put free trade negotiations into endless loop.

On other hand, the fields of the free trade negotiations involved are more and complex.
The vital is that free trade should not expense by destroying some industries of a country to make their nationals’ jobless.

So that TPP Talks may never reach a deal.

However, the failed TPP Talks provide Canada an excellent strategic opportunity, which is that the experiences of the negotiations are valuable for how to reach a deal, and the records of the negotiations provide a favorable foundation. Canada should trigger the free trade effect by country to country, especially, with more conducive to own national interests.

    Canada-EU free-trade

For EU, it is easy to reach a deal with Britain - the ambitious Prime Minister David Cameron who has been strongly insisting on Britain out of EU and its Pound did not join the euro system yet. Then with the successful example to drive France, and then the Germany - the biggest gainer, strong advocate and defender for the single currency and market of EU. The process must be under the clear promise of that the current free trade deal of individual country will be strictly revised according to the request of future final deal of Canada-EU. I guess that the final deal of Ca-Eu may never be realized, any way, Canada has gained the initiative to deal with the rest of EU members in free trade talks.

And also, I think, that there only several countries are worth to sign the free trade agreement in EU, and those countries that are difficult to reach a deal may be not worth to waste time with at all.

Thus, Canada may get an extra benefit of avoiding low-quality immigrants by giving up some poor-market. Because of that the free movement of the labors, is also the important provisions of the free trade deal.

No one would doubt that the low quality of the national is the important cause of the poverty of a nation. A prosperous Canada needs the nationals of industrious and enterprising, rather than the lazy quitters that nourished by long time enjoyment of excessive social welfare.

    Trans-Pacific Partnership

For TPP, Canada may take the same strategy as that of with EU, but with a new strategy that avoids touching the countries that have been insisting Canada to give up the Supply Management, obviously, those countries are the threats for Canada with much stronger competitiveness that may defeat Canada, especially in agriculture.

The agro-products of Canada are less competitiveness due to the high production cost in the unfavorable natural condition that frost-free period is short, insufficient sunshine-energy and bad cold in winter under the High-latitude geographic.

My friend told me that in her Saskatchewan farm, there a few well-bred sheep were frozen to die in the winter 2013, which would never happen in the United States, New Zealand and Australia, we must pragmatically view our problems and should not blindly blame our farmers as not work hard enough under the trade protection.

There were some reprots that, in nowadays, the young generations of farmers have tended to give up the lonely and hard agricultural life, especially, the quality of the agricultural harvest is decisively impacted by the uncontrollable natural factors, such as, Drought. Hail, Storms, Pests, etc., thus it is easily to make farmers perennially in the state of worries and anxiety.

Before studying in university, I have been a farmer for three-year in the remote rural China, those aremy personal experiences and feelings.

With such worries, in Dec. 26, 2013, I once wrote an article Free Trade is damaging Agriculture with that:

"The operation of agriculture is facing difficulties in most countries world widely. The Governments have to provide subsidies to ensure their agriculture survival. This positive agricultural policy is undoubted wise and essential."

"Industrialization, informatization and economic globalization, those are undoubtedly the progress of human civilization, but when we rejoice for that, at the same time, we should note the crisis that are accompanying to."

"In developing countries like China, the younger generation has been reluctant to engage in strenuous agricultural life, especially, in the mountainous area that can not mechanize cultivation."

"Even in developed countries, such as Canada, the younger farmer’s generation is also fleeing from farming land toward industrialized areas to enjoy colorful modern life."

"I've been thinking about that, whether we should negatively monitor each other to reduce the subsidies to farmers, to agriculture,  as well as open the door to allow the imports of agricultural products flooding the domestic agricultural products, to cut off the way of the farmers’ life in their own country."

"The negotiations of WTO, TPP and TTIP are all taking the elimination of agricultural subsidies as the prerequisite of the fair of the free trade."

"Some studies have revealed the harsh reality on agriculture, which may act as that of pouring a bucket of cold water on some people overheated head, to warn them to stop the greed and plunder in the agricultural sector. They must establish a sense that harms agriculture is to harm themselves and their families."

"Free Trade in Agriculture: A Bad Idea Whose Time Is Done." - te>monthlyreview,te>  2009Volume 61, Issue 03 (July-August)

"With Cheap Food Imports, Haiti Can't Feed Itself." Huffington Post Mar. 20, 2010.

"It is time that we should ask that, under the guise of impartial, for ensuring the fair, for maximizing the justice, to mindlessly cut agricultural subsidies,  whether,  that is creating greater unfair, greater injustice. Whether we are destroying the agriculture that human survival is depending on."

In view of above, no matter that what other countries will do, Canada must have a waking sense that a proper protection for agro-industry is a must.

Free trade should not be exchanged by destroy a national industry to cause a lots of people jobless.

--- Frank  July 16 2014  in Waterloo, On. Ca.

It is necessary to point out that, my advice in July 16 2014 is not to intendedly badly calculate on Germany, but, in fact, Germany is one of my favorite country due to it is most rational in many aspects. Instead, I think that, a unified euro and single market of EU, there are advantages, certainly, but it also brings side effects.
The one of the purposes of the implementation of a unified euro is for fighting against the currency robery of the strong dollar based on many historical lessons, but the unified euro may castrate the governing function of those underdeveloped member countries for conducting effective economic regulation and stimulation to develop own economy, and causing some countries economic development into clunker. And also a unified market, has been forcing those underdeveloped member countries widely opened the door without the proper protection for the goods flood in from those manufacturing highly developed countries, thus, will kill the economy of undeveloped contries.
The free trade of Canada-EU, precisely say, is mainly good for those highly developed countries, but it was delayed. The reason is that free trade talks by grouping is difficult to reach a deal, the failure of the July 2014 TPP talks Ottawa was a new good lesson.
Therefore, Germany, Britain, France. Etc., should individually start their free trade with Canada by giving up the hope of the big free trade deal of Canada-EU to boost the economy of each others as soon as possible.

This is not a selfish act at all, we should look at the issue with a global perspective, any good measure for promoting regional economy will certainly be conducive to the economy globally.

Please further read my article TPP has opened door for saving the industry of Dairy and Poultry of Canada, you would understand that why free trade talks with big grouping are difficult to reach a deal.

morning, July 30 2014  in Waterloo, On. Ca.

July 15, 2014, report 9 EU countries ready to block economic sanctions against Russia said with that:

"France, Germany, and Italy are among EU members who don’t want to follow the US lead and impose trade sanctions on Russia. US sanctions are seen as a push to promote its own multibillion free-trade pact with Europe."

"According to the source, the US sees slapping Russia with sanctions as a way to promote its own trade agenda with Europe, a side rarely explored in mainstream media. The Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) between the US and Europe would create the world's largest free trade zone, but some worry it could balloon into an "economic NATO" or could end up putting corporation interest above national."

“Last year the EU and the US started difficult negotiations on a free trade agreement, which would force the EU into serious concessions, in particular, agricultural quality standards and regulation on genetically modified products. In this circumstance, restrictions against Russia will force EU countries to expand trade with the US,” the source said, citing shale gas as an example.

The facts prove that Americans has hit the wall for getting own interests by harming others, and is eatting the evil fruit that they planted purposefully as wiseacre.

The failure of the TPP Talks Ottawa was the victory that the rational defeated U.S. irrational. That was the fact that some people hardly tried to cover up, so that Canadians, for what happened in own country, only got the information of the lousy secrecy.

In my June 30, 2014 article TPP has opened door for saving the industry of Dairy and Poultry of Canada, I have predicted such a failed result.

As that of any good measure for promoting regional economy will certainly be conducive to the global economy, any bad idea that harm regional economy will certainly harm the economy globally.

It provided a strong support for my suggestion that Canada should trigger the free trade effect by country to country with more conducive to own national interests.

    Special notes for this topic:

Since this article posted in a month ago, even if I have repeatedly explained as above, I have still been self-torturing, faced with such problem that may affect the destiny of mankind, whether I am too selfish in only considering the interests of Canada locally, with ignoring the overall interests globally.

Nothing is more miserable feeling, than to observe the reality. But, the reality is too vital to be ignored.
For writing some article, I have to repeatedly think of the reality, it caused me often suffering from insomnia and to be extremely depressed from the feeling of extreme helpless and powerless.
To look around the world today, endless terror attacks, endless wars, time and time again man-made economic crisis....., to make those decent people who have been hard working in the creation of social wealth for human survival, but, can not live a decent life.

If we carefully review the trajectory of human civilization, it seems that our Human Beings, self-proclaimed as highly intelligent animals, have never set foot in the civilization that as high IQ animal should be, but, have been in a barbaric state of low IQ animals.
This time, this species of human beings, has been pushed into the irreversible ending stage by those brain defectives.

Free trade is the best way to promote the advancement of the material civilization while help people enjoying the achievements of each other. However, such a good mode of human civilization is being taken as brutal means by some defectives to create new barbaric civilization.

By the name of fairness and justice, the free trade has become a sacred predatory tool to help those developed countries or their consortia, which are well-funded with huge production capacity to easily control or destroy the economy of those weak countries.

Free Trade is damaging Agriculture  Notebook of Frank, Dec. 26 2013

A promising world must be able to ensure that all people can make a living by creating material wealth in their own motherland. Free trade should not be exchanged by destroy a national industry to cause a lots of people jobless.

We must consider another terrible fact that I indicated in June 28, 2014 article of Free trade and human rights help illegal migrants to replace ethnic composition and human quality genetically:

"Nowadays, in developed countries, those highly educated and well cultured people are reluctant to give birth. In backward countries, those who lack of good education and personal culture without proper sense of compliance with laws and social morality are freely giving birth, with more and more large scale reproduction of human member with low quality, and that is not enough, under the encourage of the protection of Human Rights, they are increasingly spreading everywhere world widely. The consequences are terrible."

In view of those above, my idea that Canada should selectively establish free trade in conducive to own interests, also, will be conducive to the whole world.

The TPP talks seem going on my predicted way

Jan. 19, 2014, in the article TPP will kill Poultry Industry of Canada, after the analysis for actual economic situation in Japan, I  predicted that, the US would ultimately compromise with allowing Japan to retain rice tariffs and to continue to free play currency manipulation.

June 30 2014, after read Apr 17, 2014 report U.S. agrees to let Japanese tariffs stand on rice, wheat, I wrote article TPP has opened door for saving the industry of Dairy and Poultry of Canada with that:
"The United States has agreed to allow Japan to retain tariffs on rice and wheat, government sources said Thursday during bilateral talks related to the wider Pacific free trade negotiations.”
“In return, Washington demanded Tokyo introduce a system to increase U.S. rice imports, which the Japanese side agreed to do, the sources said.”
“The U.S. initially wanted Japan to halt state trading of rice and wheat, and abolish tariffs. But Washington dropped the demand because that would also lead to an increase of rice and wheat exports to Japan from Canada and Australia, which compete with the U.S..”
It is clear now, that the United States and Japan, the key members in TPP talks, has broken the basic principle of abolishing all tariffs under the Trans-Pacific Partnership framework. The unacceptable is that the two mindless completely ignored the existence of other TPP members.
On other hand, that kicks out Canada and Australia to export rice and wheat to Japan by the ugly collusion has provided a sufficient grounds for other TPP member countries to fight for gaining more own interests. Such as that:
I feel somewhat sadness, the four TPP initiators - Chile, New Zealand, Singapore and Brunei, seem has been casually kneading as that of the mud of urine mixed soil under the hands of the mental retarded street boys.
In the eyes of the officials of two over smart countries that have self-proclaimed as the leaders of the world, those officials of other TPP member countries are all mental retarded without the waking consciousness when being treated as mental retarded.
Such gratuitous humiliation has provided enough reason for other innocent TPP member countries to refuse to continue playing with the two wiseacre countries.
Now,the facts have been clear that if the officials of other 10 TPP member countries have enough self-esteem and rational, they should expel the two wiseacre countries, due to they are with no rational consciousness for respecting others, the consciousness of the most basic diplomatic courtesy.
As my view, those TPP latecomers have wasted the time for the initiators enjoying their free trade, for returning a justice to them, we should allow them to return to the initial state to complete their own free trade agreements firstly and then other countries in accordance with the principles that they established to re-apply again without any right to argue.
I think that is the only feasible ways that can make TPP reach a deal. The ugly manner of the U.S. and Japan making a private collusion with only meet the interest of themselves based on harming the interest of others will anger other 10 TPP member countries to make TPP talks into new turn of stalling with those member countries following the example of Japan to insist on own interest without any compromise.

Now, two weeks later, the TPP talks went into new turn of stalling as I predicted.
