Utilities Engineer

In this role, you will complete designs for and oversee the installation of natural gas mains/services and provide design/construction support for water main construction projects. You will also administer the natural gas installation contract, visit construction sites, attend site meetings, and liaise with consultants and contractors regarding natural gas and water design and construction. Additionally, you will review water-related design and construction submissions, provide natural gas/water comments relating to site plans to various City departments, prepare municipal consents and capital forecasts as well as assist with the development of various procedures as related to regulatory requirements.

Your P.Eng. designation is supported by at least four years' experience in project management, coordinating multiple projects through the design phase, and designing/preparing/interpreting engineering plan and profile drawings. You are also familiar with design and inspection procedures, infrastructure systems, technical terms related to civil engineering (water and natural gas), and design and construction methods and practices. An effective communicator with demonstrated experience working with and leading multi-disciplinary teams, you have excellent computer skills using Microsoft Word and infrastructure management programs, strong mathematical and analytical abilities along with problem-solving capabilities with an attention to detail. You have a valid Class G driver's licence in good standing with a personal vehicle which can be used for City business and the availability to act as a designated on-call emergency manager (24 hours/day, approximately 13 weeks/year) for water and/or natural gas-related emergencies.

Salary: $70,974 - $88,718 per annum (Under Review)

Hours of Work: Monday - Friday 35 hours per week
