Systems Administrator (Operations)(CUPE 791)

The City of Kitchener is seeking an experienced System Administrator to join our Operations Team.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS.ALL APPLICANTS FOR THIS COMPETITION
1.       Must be reliable with good attitude and employment record.
2.       Must successfully complete a medical examination if required.
3.       Must have the ability to support and project values compatible with the organization.
4.       Must have a minimum 3 year Post Secondary degree or diploma with specific training in computer systems design and database management.
NOTE: Consideration will be given to applicants with a pre-approved equivalent combination of Education and Experience as determined by operating management in consultation with Human Resources, if no applicant with the stated level of education and experience is successful. We encourage all interested to apply.
5.       Must have a minimum of 2 years experience developing applications including business analysis, design, development, testing and maintenance.
6.       Must have proven interpersonal and customer relations skills with evidence of strong verbal and written acumen.
7.       Must have demonstrated experience in work process reengineering with an ability to problem solve.
8.       Must have highly developed skills in report writing.
9.       Must have experience working with Oracle SQL Navigator, diagnostic and database maintenance in Crystal Report Writer. Must have a general knowledge of relational database concepts and SQL scripting.
10.   Must be proficient and possess highly developed skills in the use of Microsoft Access.
11.   Must have excellent organization skills, be able to meet deadlines and work with minimal supervision.
12.   Must have the ability to participate as an effective team member.
13.   Preference will be given to candidates with experience in work management software, SAP, GIS and ArcMap as well as experience with integrated systems.
14.   Further preference will be given to candidates with experience in municipal business processes and dealing with support issues.
*NOTE-Selected candidates will be expected to do a written or verbal test of required skills.
FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:
- Provide leadership and direction to systems administrators and users.
- Further develop the corporate Cityworks Systems Administration portfolio.
- Lead/coordinate the implementation of priorities identified through the business impact analysis as pertaining to Cityworks.
- Act as the Cityworks representative on the Cityworks/SAP Work order/Internal Order Task Force
- Attends  the TechCOPS Committee to address Cityworks Issues.
- Liaise with Cityworks stakeholders and SuperUsers and represent them on the task force.
- Attend the Joint Steering Committee to address Cityworks issues.
- Analyze, develop, test, implement all Cityworks processes, data intregration with other corporate databases for all Cityworks user departments.
- Analyze, identify, recommend and implement opportunities for re-enginerring of business prcoesses.
- Perform diagnostics on computer systems.  Assist with maintenance of system databases, and updates for all computer systems specific to Community Services.
- Maintain all systems integrity, validation checks, identify training needs, provide training of user staff, documenting changes and enhancements.
- Liaise, maintain and develop localized computer applications in conjunction with Information Technology staff - utilizing current standards and software requirements.
- Acts as primary contact with software vendor for software issues and enhancement requests.
- Acts as liason between departments for systems related issues.
- Report writing and adhoc queries.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Reports directly to the Supervisor of Administration and Quality Assurance.
Salary: Grade 18 - $54,245 to $67,806 annually (Under Review)
