五名华人学子荣获第一届水城奖学金
经过4个月的报名统计和仔细地审核评定，五名滑铁卢地区的华裔学子通过了严格的筛选最终成为2012年“水城社区高等教育奖学金”的获得者。
9月14日，该奖学金的颁奖典礼将在社区研究中心(Centre for Community Based Research)举行。这是滑铁卢地区第一个专门为华裔学生所设的奖学金，是由本地中文资讯网站水城社区( www.kwcg.ca)于今年发起并捐赠设立的，由社区研究中心进行管理和执行。
该奖学金旨在奖励和资助本地区华裔学生的高等教育。因此，申请者仅限居住在滑铁卢地区、惠灵顿县和贵湖市的华裔学生，并且申请者必须于申请当年高中毕业并获得高等教育学府录取。
这五名赢得奖学金的出色学生分别为：被滑铁卢大学健康研究专业入取的 ，将就读西安大略大学健康研究专业的 ，将就读麦马大学健康研究专业的 ，被多伦多大学健康研究专业入取的 以及将就读滑铁卢大学财会管理专业的 。
这五名学生分别获得了$1000、 $800和$600不等的奖学金。这笔奖学金将为他们的大学生活和学习提供不小的支持。
奖学金的发起者水城社区的 表示，未来奖励金额将根据当年企业捐款情况有所调整，但不会低于今年奖金的数额。

He graduated from Waterloo Collegiate Institute. He is currently pursuing Health Studies at the University of Waterloo. has a passion for lending a helping hand. By becoming a physician, he hopes to offer leadership and strength that he has gained from what he has learned and experienced.
Second Place (one person):
He graduated from Waterloo Collegiate Institute. He is currently pursuing Health Studies the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario. wishes to become a neurosurgeon with a dream of helping people and his passion is to work on beating incurable diseases.
Third Place (three people):
is from Nanchang, China. She graduated from Waterloo Collegiate Institute and is currently pursuing studies in Accounting and Financial Management at the University of Waterloo. is passionate about engaging in law, politics and religion to promote values of peace, unity and moral good.
is from Shanghai, China. He graduated from Sir John A. MacDonald Secondary School in Waterloo. He is currently pursuing Health Studies at McMaster University in Hamilton. dream is to become a doctor, so that he can make a difference in other people’s lives.
is from Xi’an, China. She graduated from Waterloo Collegiate Institute and is currently pursing Health Studies at the University of Toronto. is actively working on a device to help improve the safety of people who are visually impaired.
