Laboratory Tester - Youth Employment and Skills Strategy - government funded

CTA Lab has one position vacant Laboratory Tester position partially funded under the Youth Employment and Skills Strategy government program.  Individual will receive paid employment while receiving guidance on their career and education through mentorship program provided by the engineer.  To meet eligibility of this government funded program, must be Canadian youth age 15 to 30.   Description and website below:

The Youth Employment and Skills Strategy (YESS) is a horizontal Government of Canada initiative led by Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) and delivered in partnership with 11 federal departments, agencies, and Crown Corporations. Together, these 12 partners deliver funding programs to help Canadian youth (15-30) develop the skills and gain the experience they need to successfully transition into the labor market. But please check the YESS program eligibility.  If you do not meet the requirement, there are other positions advertised.  This program is to help Youth with mentorship and is partially funded by government.

Rate of pay is $18.25/hr, full-time.  Preference is for someone available to work until December, but applicants meeting eligibility requirement will be considered.  Start date is June/July 2025.

Job Description:

1. Asphalt testing;
2. Working with and providing support to other members with laboratory test; and
3. Performing other related duties as assigned.

Qualification:

  • No asphalt experience required, will train;
  • Numeracy skills, strong organizational, self-initiator, time-management and multi-tasking skills is an asset; lift up to 25 kg; and
  • Availability to work throughout 2025.
