2015年度滑铁卢华商会大学奖学金发放仪式日前在滑大举办,六位大学新生荣获奖金。华商会会长张超先生,副会长刘志中先生到会祝贺,并向获奖学生颁发奖金和证书。
获奖学生表示感谢华人社区的捐助,并表示今后努力学习,以优异的成绩完成学业,不辜负慈善社群的厚爱。

Chinese Scholarship recipients Bio
Mijia Murong: She graduated from the IB program of Cameron Heights Collegiate Institute, has started Health Sciences program at McMaster. She dreams of becoming a doctor and volunteers every Friday night at Grand River Hospital to greet incoming visitors. She hopes to give back to both Canadian communities as well as to her motherland.
Grace Xu: Graduated from Waterloo Collegiate Institute, has started Health Sciences progtam at McMaster. She challenged herself both inside and outside the classroom throughout her time in high school. She has worked for three years as a co-leader in a community outreach program to teach middle schoolers about the basics of debate.
Tianyu Guo: Graduated from Waterloo Collegiate Institute, has started UW Co-op program. He is proud of his Chinese heritage. He created a homework club in his high school to help ESL students and also made a device to measure brain activity when people are sleeping.
Ellen Shang: She graduated from Centennial C.V.I. in Guelph. She has started joint program Computer Sciences UW and Laurier. She is inspired by companies like Jewelbots and hopes one day to create products and services to help enrich people's lives. She hopes that these products will promote social equality and make this world a better place. She was involved in the ECOO contest and the FIRST Robotics challenge.
Yuming Han: Graduated from Sir John A. Macdonald, was started Life Science program at University of Toronto. She wants to contribute to society by helping others, specifically by becoming a pharmacist or a doctor. She hopes that these positions will allow her to bring happiness to many people.
Jin Chu Graduated from Huron Heights Colegaite Institute, attending University of Waterloo. He believes that being an Accountant is the best way to contribute to not just Canadian society, but globally as well. He volunteers at the Kitchener Market and hopes to continue in this position.
